We never think about what is included in the cosmetics used, but knowing the ingredients that compose it should be a key factor in your choice. For this, the most important thing is not the front of the container, the most relevant information is on the back.
Thanks to the INCI we can know if it contains healthy
natural ingredients or, on the contrary, has a synthetic component. But what is
INCI? From Identy Beauty they explain it to us.
INCI stands for "International Nomenclature Cosmetics
Ingredients", that is, it is a list of ingredients that make up a cosmetic
product. This information is collected on a label on the back of the package.
These ingredients usually appear with their scientific names, generally in
English and / or Latin, to be recognized in any country. Based on the
information compiled by INCI, it is known if there is a synthetic component
such as silicones in makeup.
How do I read the INCI of my makeup? The Ingredient List
(INCI) is arranged in descending order, describing the most common ingredient
first. To better understand how to read INCI, Identy Beauty presents an example
with one of its products.
The INCI refers to the English initials '' International Nomenclature Cosmetics Ingredients '', that is, it is the list of ingredients that make up a cosmetic product
The first ingredient of INCI's Natural Glow Fluid Foundation
and therefore the most common is Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice Powder, an aloe
vera powder that helps to highlight radiant skin thanks to its astringent and
hydrating composition. and anti-aging powers.
Second, there is almond oil (Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis Oil).
This vegetable oil has a regenerating, anti-inflammatory and healing effect. It
also helps improve elasticity and prevent the appearance of wrinkles, and
contains vitamin E to improve skin tone and firmness.
Another natural ingredient in the natural base Glow Fluid,
which has a lower concentration, is iron oxide. These are pigments of natural
origin that, combined, give a wide variety of colors. Thanks to them, they have
6 different shades of this makeup base.
On the other hand, it is equally important to recognize what
natural ingredients are contained in cosmetics and what benefits they bring to
the body, as well as to identify those ingredients that are not there.
Silicones and synthetic pigments are the most common ingredients in
conventional makeup formulas.
Silicones create a film on the skin that prevents it from
breathing naturally, clogging pores and sometimes causing acne and allergic
reactions. They can be easily identified because silicone containing
ingredients end with a cone, a siloxane, and a conol. There are healthier
alternatives, such as vegetable oils or apricot oil, which contain beneficial
nutrients and vitamins for the body, these are natural ingredients that are
used in the formulation of Identy Beauty products.
Meanwhile, synthetic pigments provide unusual colors like
greens and blues. These pigments in INCI are preceded by the words HC, Acid,
Pigment or Solvent, and are generally followed by the suffix -anilid or
-anilin. The company uses natural pigments and mica to produce different shades
in a natural and healthy way.
