I Tried Glitter Lipsticks and Discovered They're Surprisingly Wearable

You heard it here first - glitter lipsticks are this year's party beauty 'hack'. One day, it seems, all the makeup brands decided this was the year to do their best, using their glitter balls and in some cases marking them with engravings or intricate intersecting stars. And you know what? I'm not crazy about it. techwadia

At first I thought these glitter lipsticks were so cute and would make a fun party favor, but I wouldn't wear them, you know. But it turns out that they are actually surprisingly portable. Whether you want a touch of shine in a matte formula, a smooth, lustrous, glossy finish, or a glossy look with rich pigments, there is a glitter lipstick named after you. I have vexed them all and these are the eight best.

Pillow Talk Diamonds is a reinvention of Charlotte Tilbury's cult matte shade, Pillow Talk. The formula is sheer and balm-like and tinted with highlights. It's easy to use on its own or as a mattress topper over existing lipsticks to make them shine worldbeautytips.

Chantecaille's Limited Edition Christmas Lipstick is dazzling to look at the ball and not just for show; It is completely frosted and does not feel grainy on the lips at all. I'm using the Rose Quartz shade here, which is pleasantly retro technologyford.

Juicy Couture Glitter Lipstick

 AMY LAWRENSON

The exterior of this Juicy Couture Glitter Cream lipstick ball ($ 18) is coated in an amplified shine, but when applied it has a matte finish with a very subtle sheen. This is great if you are a matte lipstick but want to dip your toe into the glossy lip trend. The color payoff and fixation of this lipstick is very impressive techiesin.

MAC's holiday gathering, Starring You, is epic, from sparkling eyeshadows to lip kits, but Kiss of Stars lipsticks are the true heroes. I use Walk of Fame, which is already out of stock online, but definitely check your nearest MAC counter or grab one of the other shades like Starstruck, a bright fuchsia / purple technologyies.

NARS lipstick in Lisa

 AMY LAWRENSON

The new Disco Dust lipsticks from NARS are inspired by the decadent era of Studio 54. While in the photo it looks like a very good, richly pigmented lipstick, in real life this lipstick also looks wonderfully shiny. The Lisa shade is a warm-toned red that adds a welcoming touch to your skin tone.

Disco Dust lipsticks are not available on the NARS US website, but for UK or European readers, you can get them.

On the ball, this lipstick looks incredibly shiny, but on the lips the sparkles give off a really flattering shine and wet effect. This finish and color combination was my favorite of the bunch.

If you can't get your hands on NARS Disco Dust Lipstick in Lisa (above), then this Chantecaille Lip Cristal Carnelian ($ 51) would be a good choice. It has the same warm red hue and the glossy finish is super luxurious. It is expensive, but this shade would also look good worn during the summer months.

Debbie from NARS

 AMY LAWRENSON

As with the Lisa shade (above), this NARS Disco Dust lipstick on Debbie, which is a vampy plum sprinkled with gold glitter, is available in the UK and Europe. Is it a shame to book a vacation just to buy lipstick?
